18 persons who lobbed stones at police arrested

18 persons who had been amongst those who had acted in an intractable manner during the attack on the Thambuththegama police station have been arrested by police.

 

According to police Media Spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana the suspects had been arrested at several locations.

 

A group of relatives of the deceased female in the incident staged a protest in the Thambuththegama town today expressing their dissent against the release of an individual who had been arrested in connection to yesterday's accident.

 

The corpse of the deaseased female was also brought before the Thambuththegama police during the protest where enraged protesters lobbed stones at authorities.

 

Subsequently police resorted to the use of tear gas to disperse the protesters.
