The CPC Trade Unions state that another ship bearing a load of oil from Vitol, the firm which exported the contaminated fuel, is heading to Sri Lanka.
The secretary of the CPC branch of the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya Ananda Palitha stated that this load of fuel is supposed to be used in the Thermal Power plants and that it is not suitable to use this fuel without proper testing.
However the CPC states that this shipment of fuel will be distributed after the necessary quality control checks.
The financial manager of the CPC C. B. Samaraweera states that the transaction cannot be cancelled.
Our news team inquired from the Minster of Power and Energy Patali Champika regarding the purchasing of fuel from the same firm that sold contaminated diesel.
The Minister stated that if the fuel is up to the required standard there would be no issue
Meanwhile the deputy minister of ports Rohitha Abeygunawardena made the following statement regarding contaminated fuel and the allegations of the opposition.
