Election monitoring group to probe illegal propaganda activities

A delegation comprising of officials attached to the Elections Secretariat is to visit the regions in which the upcoming polls will be held to ascertain the ground situation with regards to the display of illegal posters and banners which are in contravention to the elections ordinance.

 

According to a spokesperson for the elections secretariat the group will dispatch its self to the relevant areas tomorrow.

 

The most number of complaints with regards to illegal election propaganda activities have been received from the districts of Anuradhapura and Kegalle.

 

Moreover at a recent discussion headed by the elections secretariat it was decided to increase the number of poll complaint centres in the relevant elections district.

 

As a result it was decided to establish 5 election complaint centres for the Anuradhapura district by the elections commissioner.
