President of the Ceylon Postal Services Union, Jayantha Wijesinghe states that around 26 vehicles attached to the department have undergone mechanical failures owing to have been fuelled with contaminated diesel supplies.
Speaking further Wijeshinghe stated that the loss incurred by the postal department due to the backlogs in undelivered mail is yet to be ascertained.
According to the President of the Ceylon Postal Services Union the loss may amount to over one million rupees.

Meanwhile Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe states that the current regime has garnered the gold medal for providing the country with contaminated fuel supplies.
Wickremesinghe's comments came during a function held in Kandy.
