The University Grants Commission today informed the Supreme Court that it will not decide on admitting new students to universities untill the issue relating to the Z- score issue is over.
The UGC's notification came when a petition filed by 33 students who sat the GCE Advanced Level Examination was taken up before the Supreme Courts today.
The Attorney general appearing on behalf of the Commissioner General of Examinations & the Minister of Higher Education Palitha Fernando informed court that a mechanism to the Z score complication was being formulated with the assistance of all parties concerned.
Meanwhile the Attorney General appearing on behalf of the petitioners stated that since the initial verdict issued by courts was not adhered to, a fundamental rights petition was filed seeking a solution.
His request to entertain the case was subsequently accepted by courts today.
Accordingly the Supreme Court had notified that the case will be recalled on the 30th of August, where the Attorney General will be called in for clarifications.
