SLTB suffers 6 million rupee loss due to substandard diesel

Minister of Transportation Kumawa Welgama, states that the Sri Lanka Transport Board has suffered a 6 million rupee loss due to the use of substandard diesel.

Speaking at a press conference held in Colombo today, he stated that 289 SLTB turns and 6 train engines stalled due to the use of substandard diesel.

Meanwhile a train travelling from Polgahawela to Colombo came to a halt due to an engine failure near the Wanduramba train station causing delays to trains travelling along the main route.

A senior official of the department of railways stated that substandard diesel is suspected to be the cause of the engine failure.
