Mannar Magistrate has violated parliamentary privileges, says Speaker

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa said in parliament yesterday that he accepts that the Mannar Magistrate had violated parliamentary privileges.

The Speaker said so in reply to a question on parliamentary privileges Vanni District UPFA MP Hunayis Faaruk raised in parliament.

The MP said in parliament yesterday that the Mannar Magistrate had threatened him in court and that therefore his parliamentary privileges had been violated.

Replying to the MP the Speaker said that the parliamentary privileges committee has the opportunity to investigate further with regard to this.
