Wednesday, 08 August 2012 - 07:58 PM

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe states that the government has been rendered incapable to ensure the safety of the public.

Expressing his comments during a media briefing held at party headquarters Sirikotha, Wickremesinghe noted that it was the responsibility of UNP organisers to educate the public in this regard.

Meanwhile the Mount Lavinia District Courts today issued an enjoining order effective until the 22nd of this month proscribing the leadership extension of opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Mount Lavinia District Judge Priyantha Fernando issued the ruling today when a petition filed by UNP Southern Provincial Councillor Maithree Gunarathna was taken up before courts.

The petitioner had noted that the leadership of the party aided by its working committee had violated the party constitution by extending the office tenure of its leader to 06 years instead of a two year term.
