All CEB non-staff grade trade unions have decided to launch an uninterrupted trade union action demanding salary increases.

CEB Joint Trade Union convenor Ranjan Jayalaal told our news team that it has been decided to begin the trade union action after 12 noon today.

However CEB Chairman Professor Wimaladharma Abeywickrema said that a circular had been issued cancelling employees leave in order to maintain the uninterrupted functioning of CEB activities despite the current drought situation.

The Power and Energy Ministry stated that a four-stage power cut will occur for two hours 15 minutes between 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. today due to the recent failure at the Norochcholai power plant.
