CEB workers challenge enrolment of 5000 workers

Deputy Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board Anura Wijepala states that the Chinese engineering firm entrusted with the construction of the Norochcholai power plant has been severely warned due to the repeated failures experienced at it.

His comments came while addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today.

Moreover during this media briefing the Deputy Chairman of the CEB stated that if employees attached to the CEB do not report for work, steps would be taken to enrol 5000 employees to the board on a temporary basis.

Engaging in a protest before the head office of the CEB, employees attached to the board expressed their dissent concerning the planned move while convenor of the CEB's Joint Trade Union Alliance Ranjan Jayalal challenged the board's administration to execute it's duties by enrolling 5000 employees.
