The three-member committee appointed for inquiring about vehicles subjected to technical problems due to use of sub-standard fuel submitted its interim report yesterday.
The report was handed over to Petroleum Industries Ministry Secretary R. H. H. Samaratunga.
The report has observed that the problem has occurred as a result of the difficulty of the oil to be filtered due to the fault of the fuel.
Another observation of the report is that the reason for this situation cannot be identified through the standard laboratory test methods.
Accordingly this interim report has proposed conducting a special laboratory test using the the filters discarded from vehicles that have been subjected to accidents and for appointing a specialists’ committee for updating the standards.
