A seven member team comprising of Chinese engineers have arrived in the island to carryout reparation work on the Norochcholai power plant.
According to Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board Professor Wimaladharma Abeywickrama the team of engineers had arrived in the island subsequent to a request tendered by the CEB.
The group is said to have engaged in inspections of the power plant which is cooling down gradually.
According to the Chairman of the CEB restoration of the plant would be possible within two days while repairs are said to consume more than four days.
Experts note that if expected showers make landfall in the coming days it would facilitate the cooling of the plant, and expedite repairs.
Furthermore according to CEB sources, the present power cuts may well be implemented within the course of the next week as well.
