An island wide token strike which was launched by doctors at present has severely crippled activities at hospitals.
The strike has been launched in protest against the lobbing of a grenade to the home of Sri Lanka Medical Council Member and Specialist Dr. Lalantha Ranasinghe.
Chairman of the Colombo National Hospital Dr. Anil Jaasinghe noted that owing to the strike, daily activities at the Out Patient Department of the hospital as well as the its theatres, were heavily effected.
However he also noted that emergency services were maintained as per normal
none the less.
Meanwhile the Criminal Investigation Department has been assigned to investigate the grenade attacked launched on the home of Sri Lanka Medical Council Member and Specialist Dr. Lalantha Ranasinghe.
According to Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana a police team headed by a Police Superintendent are in the course of conducting investigations into the attack.
