Information has come to light concerning a large scale land racket in the Kalpitiya
According to our provincial correspondents the fraud had transpired subsequent to the conversion of the Kalpitiya area into a tourist zone by creating counterfeit deeds.
Around 500 acres of land have been defalcated at present under the racket.
When a provincial correspondent representing our news team had travelled to the area to further investigate the incident, he had faced stiff resistance from an individual claiming to be a supposed proprietor.
Subsequently the Kalpitiya Divisional Secretary had been alerted, & upon his arrival it had been revealed that a large number of counterfeit deeds were compiled claiming pseudo proprietorship over the lands in dispute.
a hotel amounting to rupees 2.2 million had even been constructed on one of the demarcated lands.
Speaking to our news team Kalpitiya Divisional Secretariat Rangana Fernando noted that the hotel had been acquired by the government subsequent to the days revelation.
