Incidents relating to forest arson were reported from four areas of the island Yesterday.

These acts of arson were reported from the areas of Anuradhapura, Kandy, Monaragala & Badulla.

Deputy Media Director of the Disaster Management Centre Sarath Lal Kumara speaking to our news team noted that measures were taken to contain the fires.

He also stated that 10 thousand acres were destroyed by fire during the last 8 months.

Meanwhile a sector of the Turpentine reserve running from the Haputhale Y junction to Diyathalawa has re-ignited during a forest fire.

The fire which erupted last morning was contained from spreading with the assistance of the police and air force.
