Two officials attached to the Wilgamuwa Zonal Education office were detained by parents whose students attend the Handungamuwa-Navodya College.
The officials were detained for two hours and subsequently freed.
The Educational Director of the Wilgamuwa Zonal Educational office, the Zonel Education Director as well as Educational Development Director of the zone had visited the Handungamuwa-Navodya College today in order to ascertain the probable cause behind an alleged food poisoning incident.
Subsequently upon their arrival to the school, parents had detained them under lock and key & were consequently released upon the arrival of the school's principal following a two hour period of detention.
75 students were hospitalised following the consumption of a meal which was provided courtesy of the Zonal Educational Office on Saturday.
The remnants of the meals provided thus have been submitted to the government analyst to ascertain any possible contamination.
