Let the police act independently - requests the JHU
Tuesday, 21 August 2012 - 12:28 PM

The JHU states that the police should be allowed to conduct independent investigations if ancient artefacts stolen from the Colombo National Museum are to be recovered.

Speaking further the leader of the JHU Venerable Omalpe Sobitha Thero stated that the police had encountered various obstacles while conducting these investigations.

The Piliyandala police had yesterday managed to recover several artefacts stolen from the Colombo National Museum.

The police had arrested 3 suspects along with these artefacts and among the recovered items were a sword hilt and its parts and a ring that had its jewels removed.

The suspects are scheduled to be presented before the courts today.
