A group of SLMC supporters engaged in a protest against the deputy chairman of the SLMC Basir Segudawood today in Erawur in Batticaloa expressing their displeasure over a comment made by the deputy chairman at a meeting held in Batticaloa.
The SLMC is contesting the Eastern Provincial Council election as an independent party and the deputy chairman of the SLMC Basir Segudawood had made a statement requesting the general public to vote for UPFA candidate Ali Saheer Maulana.
The SLMC supporters of the Erawur region voiced their displeasure over the SLMC deputy chairman's comment in the following manner.
Our news team was unable to reach the deputy chairman of the SLMC Basir Segudawood and spoke to the national organizer of the SLMC Shafeeq Rajabdeen.
He stated that it is the wish of the SLMC to see any Muslim leader being appointed to the provincial council and also that it cannot be confirmed that the protest was carried out by members of the party.
