University lecturers ready to give up strike based on written promises

The JVP is demanding the government to reopen the universities closed by ministry of higher education.

Speaking at a press conference held in Colombo, General Secretary of the JVP Tilwin Silva made the following statement.

The Federation of University Teachers' Association states that they are ready to stop their strike if they receive solutions for their problems in written form.

Media Spokesperson of FUTA Professor Maheem Mendis stated that they are expecting these written assurances for their demands during the two crucial discussions scheduled to be held today.
