Japanese special envoy Yashushi Akaashi is getting ready to mediate for re-starting the stalled discussions between the Government and the TNA.
TNA MP Selvam Adaikkalanathan told our news team that at a discussion held with a group of TNA representatives yesterday Akaashi had expressed his willingness to mediate.
Yashushi Akaashi held a special discussion with a group of representatives including TNA leader R. Sambandan last night.
Akaashi has pointed out that it is important to obtain a permanent solution through discussions held between the Government and the TNA.
The TNA has pointed out that for this, discussions should be recommenced.
Accordingly Yashushi Akaashi has said that he would discuss the matter with President Mahinda Rajapaksa and mediate to provide an opportunity for the TNA to hold discussions.
Meanwhile TNA MP Selvam Adaikkalanathan said further that discussions were held between the TNA and Yashushi Akaashi with regard to the further maintaining of army camps in the North and the limiting of those camps.
