The report of the committee appointed to probe the reports regarding the standards of the controversial stock of diesel was handed over to the Petroleum Industries Ministry Secretary yesterday.
The committee report states that the weakening of the filtering capability of vehicles that used the diesel concerned could have been caused by chemical constituents or microbes that had developed.
The report also states that it is appropriate to get the Industrial Technology Institute to hold a laboratory exhibition on the subject.
Likewise the committee has submitted recommendations on how to find out the so-far-unidentified reasons that have caused difficulties for the diesel concerned to pass through filters.
The report emphasises that further scientific laboratory tests should be held with regard to all these matters.
Similarly the report says that it is important to get the country's fuel requirements fulfilled through reliable suppliers till the Petroleum Corporation Laboratories are updated.
The report also points out the importance of maintaining a sound stock management.
