The IGP has received a complaint regarding a financial fraud against deputy minister of Petroleum Industries Sarana Gunawardena.
The complaint details that the minister had obtained these funds after promising steel and aluminium to a resident in the Chilaw region in order for that individual to open a factory in the Attanagalla region.
Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that the amount of the fraud is around 9.6 million rupees.
The IGP has ordered the CID to conduct an investigation into these allegations
