Japanese Special Representative Yasushi Akashi today met President Mahinda Rajapaksa at a breakfast meeting held at the President House.
They are expected to hold discussions on the development activities in the North and East.
Ambassador Akashi who arrived in the country on an official visit on Tuesday visited Jaffna and Kilinochchi yesterday to study the latest developments in the conflict-stricken zone.
External Affairs Minister Proffesor G.L. Peiris briefed Yasushi Akashi regarding the procedures set in motion by the government for implementation of the LLRC recommendations.
The special representative of the Government of Japan to Sri Lanka also met with Basil Rajapaksa, Senior Adviser to President and Minister of Economic Development at the Ministry of Economic Development on Thursday.
