Oil leakage stops from sunken vessel with pending risk

The Marine Conservation Authority states that continuous efforts are still underway to dispose of oil deposits which have washed ashore from sunken vessel in Panadura.

General Manager of the MCA Rear Admiral S.R. Samarathunga speaking to our news team added that the leakage of the vessel had stopped at present.

However he noted that seismic activity within the sea bed could induce a leak yet again.

Speaking further General Manager of the MCA Rear Admiral S.R. Samarathunga had this to say………

Meanwhile a large number of iron rods had washed ashore to the coastal area of Chilaw, Ambakandawila & Kurukupane.

The navy & police have been deployed to safe guard the roads which have washed ashore.
