Sri Lanka Navy apprehends 98 persons bound for Australia.

Sri Lanka Navy yesterday arrested 98 persons bound for Australia in 2 multi-day fishing trawlers in seas off Chilaw and Batticaloa.

A trawler with 77 persons including 53 Tamils and 24 Sinhalese on board was intercepted West of Chilaw while  the other trawler with 21 persons including 19 Tamils and 2 Muslims on board was caught East of Batticaloa.

The arrested persons are residents of Jaffna, Mullaithivu, Colombo, Negambo Chilaw, Vauniya, Puththam, Galgamuwa, Trincomalee, Muttur, Ampara, Batticaloa and Kinniya .
