President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that certain politicians of the country were today engaging in a low grade attempt of conducting elections by arousing racial feelings among the country's people.

The President said that the country's grateful people were not prepared to betray the country to racialists on any day again.

Participating at a UPFA People's rally held at the Pulmudey Mineral Sands Corporation premises yesterday the President asserted that by arousing racism the country will regress and not progress.

On this occasion the President also said that no force would be allowed to reverse the path of development the country was currently moving towards after ending the war.

On this occasion the President also expressed his views about false propaganda to the effect that ownership of lands occupied by people for generations was going to be transferred to companies.

On this occasion President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that the Government was committed to ensure that ownership of lands is given to all those who occupied them and that not even a single inch of land would be allowed to be transferred to outsiders.

It was a specialty on this occasion that eight powerful TNA activists of Pulmudey and Kuchchaveli joined the UPFA at this rally.
