Inspector General of Police N.K. Illangakoon is currently engaged in a tour of the Kahawaththa area.

According to Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana the aim of the IGP's investigative visit to the area follows recent murders.

6 mysterious deaths were reported in Kahawathatha this year with the murders targeting isolated women in homes.

The last reported incident of this nature was reported in May when a woman and her daughter in the Kahawaththa area were murdered and no suspects were apprehended.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa meanwhile speaking during parliament on Wednesday noted that immediate steps should be implemented to ensure the safety of area residents.

Resultingly IGP N.K.Illangakoon had visited the area today.
