The Federation of University Teachers Alliance states that today discussions with
Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa ended in a stalemate.
Speaking to our news team Chairman of the FUTA Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri noted that the set of proposals which had been intimated for cabinet consideration was discussed at length during the meeting.
However, he noted that discussions between both parties had ended inconclusively and said that FUTA would go ahead with its strike as planned.

Meanwhile, at a media briefing convened by the Front Line Socialist Party in Colombo today, several views were expressed concerning the countries education sector.
Propaganda Secretary of the FSP Pubudu Jayagoda stated that the current Ministers of Education were truncating the countries education in the face of a dwindling economy.
