The official meeting between President Mahinda Rajapaksa & Iranian President
Mohammed Ahmedinejad took place today on the sidelines of the 16th Summit of the Non Aligned Movement.
During the meeting President Mahinda Rajapaksa had offered his condolences to the President of Iran, with regards to the countries recent earthquake which caused significant damage & claimed many lives.
President Rajapaksa had pledged the Sri Lankan government's continuous support to make the NAM summit a success.
The progress of several projects implemented in Sri Lanka funded under Iranian aid is also said to have taken centre stage during the bi-lateral dialog between the two state leaders.
Subsequently President Mahinda Rajapaksa had met with his Lebanese counterpart General Mitchell Suleiman for discussions.
The welfare of Sri Lankan housemaids had come under discussion between the two leaders.
