The Marine Environmental Protection Authority states that oil still continues to leak off the vessel which sank off the coast of Panadura recently.
It has been 8 days since the sinking of the vessel christened M.V. Thermopylae Sierra which was anchored off the shores of Panadura for an extensive period of time.
However according to General Manager of the MEPA Rear Admiral S.R. Samarathunga efforts to locate the source of the oil leak still remains a challenge, since divers have found it impossible to reach site of the breach.
Samarathunga noted that however marine-life remained unaffected by the oil lekage.
