Doctors to launch token strike tomorrow in North Central Province

The Government Medical Officers Association has decided to launch an island wide token strike affecting all government hospitals in the North Central Province tomorrow, in a bid to urge the government to arrest all suspects behind the assault of Anuradhapura General Hospital Physician Chamila Herath.

Media Spokesperson of the GMOA Dr. Naveen De Soysa expressing his views to our news team stated that the committee of the GMOA had collectively converged upon the decision.

The assaulted physician is currently receiving treatment at the neuro-centre of the Anuradhapura General Hospital.

The assault on Dr. Chamila Herath, a physician attached to the Anuradhapura General Hospital was carried out on Friday night while he had been reporting for duty.

3 arrests were made by police in connection to the incident & the suspects were placed under remand custody until the 11th of this month.

Expressing his views regarding the incident, Former Chief Minister of Anuradhapura Berty Premalal Dissanayeke had this to say.
