The Ceylon Electricity Board states that several more days would be required to restore the Norochcholai coal power plant back to normalcy.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the CEB an analysis is currently underway at the plant to determine if it would be possible to generate electricity by next Tuesday.
Previously the CEB stated that analysis on the plants systems would be carried out tonight & power generation activities would commence from tomorrow.
However the Deputy Chairman of the CEB noted that since engineers are unable to restore activity at the plant, power generation activities would proceed at an experimental level throughout the course of next week.
Speaking to our news team the Deputy Chairman of the CEB added that power cuts which are currently in effect would continue to proceed as scheduled.
