Reports say that work at the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery is at a standstill now.
Ceylon Petroleum National Employees' Union Secretary Aananda Paalitha says that the work at the Refinery has thus come to a standstill due to oil imported from Arabia being used at the refinery instead of oil from Iran.
The Union Secretary charges that the authorities should bear the responsibility for the loss incurred due to this.
However issuing a communiqué, the Petroleum Industries Ministry said that that due to an urgent repair work in a portion of a pipe in the Colombo Harbour crude oil unloading would have to be delayed by about three days.
The communiqué also says that the work at the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery would be suspended for a few days till the repair is completed.
