Two persons have been injured in an altercation which broke out between two groups in the Kirimatiyawa area in Kahatagasdigiliya Anuradhapura last night.
According to the Kahatagasdigiliya police those who had sustained injuries have been admitted to the Anuradhapura hospital while a police complaint regarding the incident has also been lodged.
The altercation between the two groups had taken place owing to an election dispute while the two parties involved had occurred between the supporters of
two UPFA candidates contesting the upcoming provincial polls.
A spokesperson for the Kahatagasdigiliya police stated that statements have been obtained from those who were present at the scene during the scuffle.
Meanwhile an election propaganda office of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress located in the Akkareipaththu area in Ampara has been vandalised by an unidentified group of individual's last night.
The Akkareipaththu police states that one individual who had sustained lacerations during the attack had been admitted to the Akkareipaththu hospital.
Subsequently the individual had been transferred to the Kalmunei hospital
owing to the severity of his injuries.
The Samanthurei police are conducting further investigations concerning the attack.
