The Supreme Court has ordered the University Grants Commission & the Commissioner General of Examinations to compile & issue the district & national level competencies for the year 2011 Advanced level examination.
The Supreme Court ordered today that these values be calculated based on the judgement issued on the 25th of July.
Today's court ruling came subsequent to having considered around 7 petitions which had been filed by around 400 students.
The petitions were examined by a three judge panel consisting of Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranaike, Justice Nimal Gamini Amarathunga &
Justice K. Sripawan.
Meanwhile a report compiled on the current university admission system by the UGC was surrendered to court today.
The report submitted to court goes on to make 4 recommendations with concern to university admissions.
The first recommendation notes that 3675 students should be admitted to universities while the second states 3048 students should be granted admissions to the countries university system.
Moreover according to the UGC the third & fourth recommendations consist of enrolling 4457 & 4928 students into universities respectively.
The petition is due to be taken up in courts on the 12th of this month yet again.
