The Election Secretariat says that by now all preparations have been made for holding elections for the dissolved Eastern, North Central and Sabaragamuwa provincial councils tomorrow.
An Election Secretariat spokesman said that the ballot boxes required for holding the election are scheduled to be taken from district election secretariats to polling centres this forenoon under special police protection.
While the necessary stationery too are scheduled to be transported along with the ballot boxes, Officers in charge of polling centres too would be travelling with these to the polling centres.
3247 polling centres have been set up in the seven districts belonging to the three provincial councils.
The largest number of polling centres that is 1189, have been set up in the Sabaragamuwa province.
While two police officers per polling centre will be deployed for security after the ballot boxes are received at the relevant centres, in addition, police patrol too is planned to be conducted around the polling centres.
The Election Secretariat says that all schools in provincial council election held provinces will be closed today.
Similarly the Government has announced that all liquor stores in these provinces will remain closed tomorrow.
Meanwhile a media briefing with regard to election in the Anuradhapura district of the North Central Province was held yesterday with Anuradhapura Returning Officer Mahinda Seneviratne at the chair.
At this briefing the Returning Officer said that maximum security arrangements had been made for election in the Anuradhapura district.
