Police cautions public arriving to witness Kapilawasthu relic exposition

The Sacred Kapilawasthu Corporeal Relics are currently on display at the Hunupitiya, Gangarama Vihara in Colombo.

The Relics were flown from the Thissamaharama Rajamaha Vihara to the

air force base located adjacent to the Galle Face this morning and was subsequently led in procession to the Ganagarama Vihara escorted by a motorcade.

The relics which arrived at the Gangarama were then received by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe was also present during the occasion.

A large number of devotees are said to be thronging to the site of the exposition

along two large queues.

The Police Headquarters meanwhile requests of the public to utilise public transport as much as possible since slots for vehicle parking are limited within the Colombo city limits.
