The UPFA has established dominance over the North Central Provincial councilduring yesterdays polls.
Berty Premalal Dissanayeke who held office as the Chief Minister of the North Central Provincial Council on three occasions has emerged second during yesterday's poll pursuit.
The most number of preferential votes for the North Central Provincial Council was obtained by S.M. Ranjith who contested the Anuradhapura District under the UPFA ticket.
A sibling of Minister S.M. Chandrasena, S.M. Ranjith was able to obtain 105,232 preferential votes where as Former Chief Minister of the province Berty Premalal Dissanayeke was only able to garner 95,027 preferential votes.
Meanwhile Chandima Mahindasoma contesting the Anuradhapura district under UNP banner was able to procure the most number of preferential votes from the party which stands at 32,919.
Moreover Wasantha Samarasinghe who obtained 2134 preferential votes from the JVP has been re-elected to the North Central provincial council.
According to the final poll results issued for the Polonnaruwa District R.M. Punchibanda Rathnayeke who contested the district under the UPFA banner procured the most number of preferential votes which stood at 39,107.
Peshala Jayarathna who also contested the Polonnaruwa district under the Alliance emerged second obtaining 37,549 preferential votes.
Meanwhile Kings Kumara Nelson who contested the Polonnaruwa District under the UNP has obtained the most number of preferential votes from the party securing 34,341 votes.
Over in the Batticaloa District the Illangei Thamil Arusu Katchi party has been able to procure 6 seats with former ITAK Parliamentarian R. Thureirathnam obtaining the most number of preferential votes which stands at 29,148.
