President terms yesterday's provincial polls a referendum

President Mahinda Rajapaksa states that Saturday's polls will join the  annals of history as the 10th consecutive election victory by the United Peoples Freedom Alliance Since the year 2005, which was led under his proven leadership.

Issuing a release the President states that the populous of the three provinces in which polls were held have delivered a clear verdict against sentiments of racism, & religious extremism propagated by powers expecting petty political gains.

Moreover the Government states that Saturday's polls convey a clear message to the international community.

In an expression of his views to our news team, Minister of Youth Affairs & Skills Development Dullus Alahapperuma noted that the poll result reflects the allegiance of the countries public, South & East alike.

Meanwhile on the contrary the United National Party states that the government has been unable to secure its land slide victory which was gained during the 2010 general election.

Party General Secretary Thissa Aththanayeke while addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today made the following revelations.

General Secretary of the JVP Tilvin Silva Commenting on the final poll result stressed that yesterday's election was devoid of a free & fair frame work.
