Reports say that a UNP candidate who had contested at the provincial council election from Anuradhapura and was defeated was attacked by a UNP winning candidate this morning.
The complaint lodged at the police sates that the house of the candidate named Lalith Edirisinghe situated at the Anuradhapura, Medawachchiya Jaffna Road junction was thus attacked.
In response to a query made by our news team from the relevant candidate the candidate said that the UNP candidate who had contested from Anuradhapura and won, named Anura Buddhika had carried out this attack.
He told our news team that as a result of the incident damage has been done to four of his motor vehicles and three persons have sustained injuries.
Our news team inquired from the winning candidate Anura Buddhika about the allegation of the relevant candidate.
He refuted the charge and said that the relevant candidate had attacked him.
However our news team inquired about this from the Anuradhapura police Headquarters.
A police spokesman of the Anuradhapura headquarters said that candidate Lalith Edirisinghe had lodged a complaint to the police saying that he had been attacked.
