The two rounds of discussion the SLMC leaders and SLMC representatives elected for the Eastern Provincial Council held with regard to the Eastern Provincial council yesterday has ended without a solution.
While a discussion between the SLMC representatives elected for the Eastern Provincial Council and party leaders was held in Colombo last forenoon subsequently discussions were held between the Eastern province SLMC leaders and party leadership.
However reports say that the SLMC Supreme Council will meet this afternoon and take a final decision on the matter.
Three opinions have been put forward at the discussions held yesterday.
The majority of SLMC representatives have said that the power at the Eastern provincial council should be established jointly with the Government.
Similarly certain groups have said that a coalition should be effected with the TNA.
Meanwhile the view of some representatives is that a coalition rule should set up at the provincial council through an alliance between the Government, TNA and the SLMC.
Meanwhile, several ministerial positions are proposed to be given to the SLMC if the SLMC joins the Government at the Eastern Provincial Council.
A senior Muslim Congress spokesperson said that the Government had proposed to offer the Eastern Provincial Council Chief Minister position, one cabinet minister position and two deputy minister positions.
However reports say that the TNA has proposed to grant several privileges to the SLMC for setting up rule at the Eastern Provincial Council.
Among these offers are all Eastern Provincial Council ministerial positions including the Chief Minister position and one minister position at the North Provincial Council due to be set up in the near future.
