Ambassador-designate of the United States of America Michele Sison, who arrived in Sri Lanka at the week-end, called on Professor G.L. Peiris, Minister of External Affairs, at the Ministry yesterday.
Minister Peiris discussed with Ambassador Sison political and economic developments in Sri Lanka since the end of the conflict, and the way ahead.
He told the Ambassador that, wherever she travels in the country, she would find ample evidence of the new mood of confidence among Sri Lankans, who are looking forward to a secure and prosperous future after the eradication of terrorism.
The External Affairs Minister and the American Ambassador discussed co-operation between the two countries in a variety of fields, including trade, investment, defence and the environment.
