President's Media Division announced that the Commonwealth General Secretary met President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees last afternoon.
The Commonwealth General Secretary said that he was able to see with
his own eyes the smiling faces of the people of the North and East after the defeat of terrorism that had harmed them.
Commonwealth General Secretary currently on a tour of Sri Lanka also visited the people living in the Northern and Eastern provinces recently.
Similarly President's Media Division said further that the Commonwealth Secretary General discussed at length with President Mahinda Rajapaksa with regard to the Commonwealth session scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in 2013.
Meanwhile Foreign Affairs Minister Professor G. L. Peiris says that it is dangerous to conceal the condition of the north from the world.
The Minister said so while participating at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday for informing about the Commonwealth Parliamentarians' 58th Session.
On this occasion the Minister pointed out that after the war the Government was carrying out development activities in the North speedily and that this has been appreciated also by representatives of foreign countries touring this country.
