The problem concerning the University lecturers is an ongoing issue.

Several protests took place today and many ideas were expressed at several press conferences held today.

The university lecturers engaged in yet another protest in front of the Fort railway station today.

Following the protest FUTA, along with several other trade unions had called a conference at the Colombo Public Library.

Speaking at the conference the chairman of FUTA Nirmal Ranjith Devasiri stated that the government has one more chance to solve the issues plaguing the university lecturers.

As of now one of the main demands of the university lecturers is that the government set aside 6% of the GDP for education.

Speaking at the cabinet media briefing, Cabinet media spokesperson Minister Keheliya Rambukwella had the following to say regarding the issue.

Our news team inquired from the Secretary to the Ministry of higher education as to why there has been no proper solution to the issues of the university lecturers despite the strike going on for nearly to 3 months.
