The army has decided to appoint a court of inquiry to investigate the incident that took place between Minister Mervin Silva's son Malaka Silva and the Army Major.
Speaking to our news team the acting Army media spokesperson stated that a council of army officers have been appointed for this.
It was alleged that Malaka Silva had assaulted the army major and his assistant at a night club in a 5 star hotel in Colombo as a result of which the army major had suffered a head injury and was treated at the Colombo National Hospital where he had under gone surgery.
Subsequently a complaint was lodged at the Slave Island police.
However the pistol and mobile phone belonging to the army major alleged to have been taken from him was turned over to the Slave Island police by Malaka Silva's driver.
The police media spokesperson stated that two teams have been appointed to conduct the investigation.
Meanwhile, Sarath Fonseka who had arrived at the appeals court for the hearing of his case against the cancellation of his parliamentary ministerial portfolio had this to say.
However, during the cabinet media briefing, media personnel queried from cabinet spokesperson Minister Keheliya Rambukwella as to why Malaka Silva has not been arrested.
