Government sources said that the naming of UPFA Provincial Council Chief Ministers would be postponed till next Sunday.
Reports say that all the North Central and Sabaragamuwa provincial councillors elected from the UPFA have individually met President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday.
Government sources said that it has already been decided by now to give the Sabaragamuwa Province Chief Minister post to former Chief Minister Maheepaala Herath.
However while so far it has not been possible to arrive at a final decision with regard to granting of the North Central Provincial Council Chief Minister post, extensive discussion had been held yesterday with regard to it.
Reports say that by now the former Chief Minister Berti Premalal Dissanayake and Minister S. M. Chandrasena's brother S. M. Ranjith have been already proposed for the post.
However at the discussion held with the North Central Province representatives yesterday, certain groups have requested that a councillor from the Polonnaruwa District be named for the post.
Meanwhile a crisis has by now cropped up with regard to the Eastern Provincial Council Chief Minister post, SLMC leader Minister Rauf Hakeem said yesterday that the group which his party supports would be revealed during the weekend.
