The Central Indian Government states that it has ensured the safety of President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is due to engage in an official tour to the subcontinent.
Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India Prasad Kariyawasam expressing his views to our news team in this regard noted that a special security arrangement
has been implemented in the Sanchi & New Delihi areas.
Several protests have been launched against the proposed visit of President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the 19th of this month, with MDMK party Chief Waiko being the most vocal.
Waiko has tendered in a request to the Madya Pradesh Chief Minister appealing of him to call off the visit by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
However according to sources President Rajapaksa's visit is said to take place according to schedule.
Meanwhile Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India Prasad Kariyawasam states that the security of Sri Lankan pilgrims arriving in Tamilnadu has been ensured.
Speaking further Kariyawasam noted that the atmosphere in Tamilnadu was conducive for Sri Lankan pilgrims to engage in their visits.
He also noted that the Sri Lankan government's attention has been fixed on eliminating the travel advisory placed on Tamil Nadu.
