The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress would convene once again today to decide as to which party they should support when forming the Eastern Provincial Council.
National Organizer of the SLMC Shafeek Rajabdeen speaking to our news team stated that the discussion would be held at the Headquarters of the Muslim Congress.
However there is no consensus between the members of the SLMC who were elected to the Eastern Provincial Council, regarding the Chief Ministerial position in the East.
Although the Muslim Congress was scheduled to meet with the Tamil National Alliance day before yesterday they were absent at the meeting.
TNA Leader MP R Sambanthan speaking at a media briefing yesterday stated that he hoped the SLMC would consider holding discussions with them.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister M.L.A.M Hisbullah stated that the Muslim Congress has taken a final decision to work with the government in the East.
