Another case has been filed at the Indian Supreme Court requesting the revoking of the agreement that handed over  kachchativ to Sri Lanka.

That was by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa Jayaraam.

While the ownership of Kachchativ was handed over to Sri Lanka in 1974, Tamil Nadu leaders went to courts against it on various occasions.

They say that the ownership of Kachchativ is imperative for preparing the environment required for fishermen around Rameshwaram for freely carrying out their fishing activities.

After handing over the island to Sri Lanka the Indian fishermen are not permitted to engage in the fishing industry around Kachchativ.

Reports say that in view of this, the case had been filed day before
yesterday.
