Another 85 who attempted to illegally travel to Australia arrested

85 Sri Lankans who were attempting to travel to Australia illegally were taken in to custody by the Sri Lanka Navy.

This was off the seas of Point Pedro and off Negombo.

50 persons were on board the boat that was taken in to custody off Point Pedro.

This group included 45 Tamils, 4 Muslims and a Sinhalese.

Meanwhile, the group that was arrested from Negombo included 35 persons.

Accordingly 2,254 have been arrested while attempting to illegally travel to Australia so far this year.
